Privacy Policy

Second Shift ("Second Shift," "we," "us") is a mobile app that helps independent contractors turn a spoken voice note into customer records, job records, quotes, and invoices. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and who it's shared with.

Who this policy covers

Second Shift is built for the contractor who uses the app (you). If you enter information about your own customers — their name, address, phone number, or job details — that information is part of your account data. You are responsible for having the right to store that information and for handling it appropriately with your own customers.

Information we collect

• Account information — the email address and password you use to sign in (handled by Firebase Authentication).
• Business profile information — your business name, address, phone, email, logo, hourly rate, tax rate, and payment instructions, if you choose to enter them.
• Customer and job data — names, addresses, job descriptions, notes, and photos you add for your own customers and jobs.
• Voice recordings — audio you record when adding a job update or a new customer/job by voice. Recordings are uploaded to our cloud storage and transcribed to text.
• Quotes and invoices — the line items, prices, and totals you create, and their status (draft, sent, paid).

Second Shift does not use advertising or analytics tracking SDKs, and we don't sell your information to anyone.

How your voice recordings are processed

When you record a voice note, the audio file is uploaded to our cloud storage and sent to Google Cloud's Speech-to-Text service to produce a text transcript. That transcript (not the audio) is then sent to Anthropic's Claude API, which extracts structured details — like customer name, job description, hours, and material costs — so they can be reviewed and confirmed by you before anything is saved. Audio recordings remain in our cloud storage after transcription; we don't currently auto-delete them, though you can request deletion at any time (see "Your choices" below).

Where your data is stored

Second Shift is built on Google Firebase. Your account, business, customer, job, and document data is stored using Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Firebase Storage, hosted in Google Cloud's northamerica-northeast1 (Montréal, Canada) region.

Third parties we share data with

We don't sell or rent your data. We use the following service providers to operate the app, each of which processes data only to provide their service to us:

• Google Firebase / Google Cloud Platform — authentication, database, file storage, and speech-to-text transcription.
• Anthropic — processes voice-note transcripts to extract structured job, quote, and invoice details.
• Apple App Store / Google Play, and RevenueCat — if you subscribe to Second Shift, your purchase is handled by Apple's or Google's billing system. We use RevenueCat to check whether your subscription is active; neither RevenueCat nor Second Shift ever receives your card details.

Your choices

• You can edit or delete customer, job, quote, and invoice records directly in the app at any time.
• You can request deletion of your account and all associated data — including stored voice recordings — by emailing support@nosecondshift.com. We'll delete it within 30 days.

Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your associated data within 30 days, except where we're required to keep records for legal or accounting reasons.

Children's privacy

Second Shift is a business tool intended for contractors and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
